Central Howell - 2013 Girls Basketball

OREGON DUCKS (8-0) VS ILLINOIS FIGHTING ILLINI(9-1)

We had a good time at the Moda Center with friends and family.  Ducks won a pretty close game.

Game 10 at Home vs Pratum: Cougars win!

Description still coming.

Game 9 Away at Victor Point: CH 28, VP 45

The Central Howell Cougars  put up a good fight in the first quarter trailing the 2nd best team in the league by only 1.  But the Lady Cougars hampered with illness could not keep pace as the game progressed.  Mieli scored 22 and Meghan 6.  Ana, Bobo and Annie worked hard the whole game as well.  Victor point lent 2 players Sylvia and Jacquie who gave a great effort.  Good job Ladies!

Game 8 Away at Victor Point: CH 27, VP 41

We finally had all 5 girls available today!  Wait actually 4-1/2 because one was sick and could only play limited minutes.  This was a close game through the first half, the Lady Cougars actually had a 10 to 8 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, then it was a tie game at half time 18 to18.  The Central Howell girls just ran out of gas and VP slowly outscored the Cougars in the second half.  Mieli had 22 points, Meghan 5.  Ana, who was playing sick, BoBo and Annie all gave their best effort.  VP lent us two players, Amy and Hailey, thank you for helping us out!

Book keeper Ryan. Thank you for a job well done!

Game 7 at Home vs Scotts Mills: CH 45, SM 30

With only 4 girls available to play again (for the 6th time!), we borrowed 3 player from Scotts Mills.  Mieli led the Cougars with 23 points, Meghan added 12, Diabo scored 4 (including the first 2 for the Cougars).  The 'loaner' players from Scotts Mills Ellie, Destiny and Dora all did a wonderful job.  Ellie scored 6 points for us.  The 1st quarter was tight ending in SM favor 8 to 6.  But after only scoring 2 points in the first, Mieli scored 8 in the 2nd, Meghan would add 4 and BoBo 2 which would give the Lady Cougars a 20 to 17 point lead at the half.  Surely SM did not expect that.  The 3rd quarter was pretty even with CH ending up with only one additional point cushion and the score 29 to 25 ending the quarter.  The Lady Cougars would show no pity and out score SM 16 to 5 in the final quarter to win it 45 to 30.  Some highlights were Annie getting a shot off that almost went in, Meghan was awesome again at the foul line making 2 out of 4.  BoBo again had some key steals. Way to go girls!!!

Game 6 at Home vs Bethany: CH 45, Bethany 20

With only 4 girls available to play again (for the 5th time!), we borrowed 1 player from Bethany.  Mieli led the Cougars with 26 points, Meghan added 17, 9 of which came in the 4th quarter.  Diabo scored the first 2 of the game and added many physical plays either steeling from the other team or rebounding.  Annie and Abby (loaner player from Bethany) provided good defense and hustle.  The lady Cougars scored the first 2 points and never trailed, there may have been a tie early in the first but never again.  There was a little late drama when Mieli fouled out with about 2 minutes remaining, but with about a 15 point lead there was little danger of loosing this one.  Great job lady Cougars!

Game 5 Home vs Silver Crest: CH 13, SC 29

With only 4 girls available to play again, we borrowed 2 players from undefeated Silver Crest.  Mieli led the Cougars with 12 of the team's 13 points, Alex scored 1 who joined us from SC.  The surprise return of the Cougar's point guard Mieli for today's game was dampened by the surprise absence of our 2 guard Meghan.  The Cougars were also hampered by one of the girls not to full health, Ana, and Annie taking a fall to the concrete floor and need to sit with some ice on it.  Diabo was at full health and provided some nice steals.  It looked hopeful at the end of the first quarter with SC having only a 6 to 4 advantage.  But the Cougars could not find a way to score in the 2nd quarter which ended with a 13 to 4 lead for SC.  Mieli had to sit most of the 3rd quarter with 4 fouls which allowed the SC Raiders to rack up 12 more points to CH's 2.   This pretty much put the game out of reach with 25 to 6 lead.  The Cougar's actually out scored SC in the 4th quarter 7 to 4 for a final score of 13 to 29 in favor of Silver Crest.  If Meghan were available this would have been a different game, a much closer game for the undefeated Silver Crest Raiders.  It's not easy to take defeat but these girls have shown courage every game!  Three more games this week, if we get all 5 of our girls healthy at one time it will make a big difference!

Game 4 at Bethany: CH 23, Bethany 42

With only 4 girls available to play again, we borrowed 3 players from Bethany.  Meghan led the Cougars with 19 points, Ana scored 2 along with Maddy who joined us from Bethany.

Game 3 at Pratum: CH 25, Pratum 42

With only 4 girls available to play again, we borrowed 2 players from Pratum.  Meghan scored 5, BoBo and Ana both scored 2 each.  Katie, who joined us from Pratum, was our high scorer with 16.  One of the highlights was that Meghan was 3 of 4 at the foul line!

Trip to Pratum

Game 2 at Silver Crest: CH 37, SC 46

With only 4 girls available to play, the Lady Cougars were ready to take on a challenge never heard of before.  That is to play with only 4 against 5.  But it ended up that the Silver Crest coach was gracious enough to loan 3 of his players and not require a forfeit.   The Cougars got off to a slow start trailing 10 to 2 at the start of the game and trailed 24 to 11 at half time.  It appeared it was going to be a run away for the Scotts Mills Raiders but, the Lady Cougars answered back and got within 5 points with 2 minutes left.  In fact, the Lady Cougars out scored SC in both the 3rd and 4th quarters and get back within 5 points with 2 minutes left but that would be as close as they could get.  Mieli poured in 31 points and Meghan contributed 4.  One of their 'loaner' girls (Cassidi #31) added 2 for the Cougars.  Again the girls gave their best effort the whole way.  Good job Cougars!

Game 1 at Scotts Mills: CH 17, SM 34 (approximately)

With only 5 girls available to play, the Lady Cougars fought hard from beginning to end.  Mieli was the Cougars primary scorer with Meghan contributing as well.  It was physically demanding with no subs on the bench.  Annie took several hard hits but keep at it, that was an inspiration for the whole team!
