![]() Even though only a few girls and their moms came to the Beavers vs Ducks game it was still a fun time. It wasn't quite as fun for Duck fans being Beavers won 68-49. It was close at half time, Ducks within 3 points but the Beavers played like the Cougars, dominating from beginning to end! Thanks to all Lady Cougars, families and friends for a super season this year! Good success to all in your coming years! Coach Waters ![]() LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Game 9 Home vs Bethany Win 37-31 The Central Howell Lady Cougars pull off the needed victory against the tough Bethany Bobcats who came into this game with the same one loss record as the Cougars. The Bobcats came into the Cougar's Den with a lot of energy and high hopes of claiming the championship for themselves. The 1st quarter would end with the Cougars leading 12-2 with scoring from Samantha, Madison, Daisy and Hailey. However, in the 2nd quarter Bethany out score the Cougars 12-5 to stage a comeback, Cougar points coming from Madison, Cheyanne and Taylor. With only a 3 point lead going into the 3rd quarter, the Lady Cougars would fight their way to a 33-23 advantage with Hailey, Madison, Samantha and Lizzy all contributing points. Bethany would continue to fight through the 4th quarter, it was never comfortable as the Bobcats would occasionally cut the lead to within about 6. But with Madison and Daisy providing the scoring and the other Cougars defense and energy, the Lady Cougars pull through. Game totals show Madison would lead the Cougars with 16 points (including 3 clutch free throws in the 4th), Samantha 11, Hailey and Daisy both had career highs with 6 each, Cheyanne and Lizzy each scored 2 and Taylor added a foul shot. Mieli, playing with limited minutes due to a hurt knee, had 5 rebounds and a blocked shot. Meghan and Jaiden both gave enthusiastic support every moment on and off the floor. With a team effort, the Cougars stayed true to the unrelenting effort they showed every game all season and earned the win. Awesome job, to say the least!!! Total season team points scored was 389 vs 201 points against. That's an Average points per game of 43.2 vs 22.3 , This is almost double the opponents. NOTE: Silver Crest may qualify to be 'Co-Champions' because they might also have a one loss season. The Lady Cougars hold all of the tie breakers which include; Points spread against Silver Crest (+5 points), Central Howell beat Silver Crest at the Jamboree, Central Howell had a more difficult schedule than Silver Crest who never had to play Bethany. B Team stats. UNDEFEATED! MULTIPLE SHUT-OUTS! Let's not overlook these Lady Cougars, Cheyanne, Meghan, Jaiden, Mieli and Daisy! This was a potent group who set a winning tone every game. Lizzy, Hailey and Taylor helped out on occasion as well. The B Team scored about 107 points for the season against about 35 for the opponents (stats were not complete). Total recorded points scored as follows; Mieli 25, Daisy 22, Cheyanne 14, Jaiden 12, Lizzy 12, Hailey 4, Taylor 4. Great Job Ladies! ![]() ![]() ![]() Game 8 Home vs Scotts Mills Win 37-8 The Lady Cougars cruise to their 7th win in 8 games. (12 of 14 counting Jamboree) As usual the Cougars took time to get into game but finally took control taking a 12-4 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. The Cougars in the 2nd quarter put on the cushion by out scoring the Scotts Mills Jaguars 17-0. The second half would see only 8 points added for the Cougars and 4 for the Jaguars. Madison lead all scorers with 13 and would break 100 points for the season. Samantha had 12 and needs 2 more points to total 100 for the season. Hailey and Taylor each added 4 while Lizzy contributed 3 and Daisy 1. Super Job! Assuming the Silver Crest Raiders have continued to win, Central Howell will be gauranteed at least Co-Championship with a win in their final game against Bethany Tuesday! Game 7 away at Bethany Win 37-32 The Lady Cougars fight to pull out an amazing win. After a long scoreless stretch, the Bethany Bobcats score first but the Cougars fight back and lead 5-6 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Cougars score another 6 in the second quarter but Bethany adds 13 to their score to take a 18-12 lead at the half. The Lady Cougars would then out score Bethany 11-15 in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit to 2. The Cougars would then claw their way to tie the game with just a few minutes left and then pull ahead for the win. Super Job girls! Samantha lead all scorers with 16, Madison added 13 with Daisy and Mieli both contributing 4 each. Game 6 away at Victor Point Win 49-19 The Lady Cougars coast to an easy victory although the 1st quarter was tight, ending with only a 12 to 9 advantage. The second quarter however showed the Cougars strength with a 16-0 run. Lizzy lead all scorers with a career high of 14 points. Madison scored 8, Sam and Mieli both contributed 6. Daisy had a career high 5 points. Jaiden scored 4 with Cheyanne, Taylor and Meghan all adding 2 each. This means all of the girls scored in this game! Great team effort. Game 5 at Silver Crest Loss 38-39 You'd have to be there to believe it. Pretty amazing game, unfortunately the Lady Cougars came out on the short end. It was a bad sign from the start when Silver Crest won the opening tip and quickly scored the first basket. That was the first time the Cougars ever trailed in a regular season game. Part way into the first quarter the Cougars regained the lead and kept it the rest of the game, until the last couple minutes . With about a minute left, the Silver Crest Raiders tied the game. Then Mieli gets fouled on a shot and make one of two free throws to give Central Howell the lead back. With 20 seconds left, Silver Crest scores to regain the lead. With 10 seconds left the Cougars call a time out to draw up a play. The ball gets inbounded and passed a couple times and unfortunately ends up in the Raider's hands before we get a shot up. Samantha has a career game of 20 points. Both Madison and Taylor score 6 each which would be a season high for Taylor. Lizzy hit a three pointer for her 3 points, Hailey scored 2 and Mieli contributed 1. Hopefully the Lady Cougars will keep their spirits up because the league championship is still very much in reach. Game 4 at Home vs St Johns Boscoe Win 58-10 The score doesn't reflect how hard the Central Howell girls had to fight for each one of those 58 points. The scrappy Boscoe team did not give up facing the motivated Cougars who are on a mission. Not only are they undefeated up to now, but have never trailed, nor have had any ties, throughout any of their regular season games. Highlights of this game was Madison and Samantha both scoring their career highs of 21 and 18 points respectively. Lizzy scored 6, Taylor 4 and Hailey hit a 3 pointer at the end to give the Lady Cougars 58 points, which is said to be the highest ever for the girls basketball team. Daisy, Jaiden and Mieli all added 2 points each. Lets keep this awesome season going! Jamboree at SHS Second place This might be the closest Central Howell has come to winning the Jamboree? The Lady Cougars were undefeated in pool play, 3 wins against Butte Creek, Mark Twain 7a and Victor Point. Then won two more in the single elimination brackets knocking out Bethany and Silver Crest to earn a chance to play in the championship game. Certainly there was a hope going into the final game but the Mark Twain 8th grade team would prove too much in size and experience. Great job girls! Maidson and Samantha both got awards for their play and sportsmanship. ![]() ![]() Game 3 Away at Scotts Mills Win 41-15 This was a highlight game for the season. Once again the Lady Cougars scored first and never looked back. A well coached Scotts Mills team had no answer for Central Howell's team work and effort. Madison and Samantha combined for 30 points, Taylor had 5 points which included a 3 pointer, Daisy, Lizzy and Maghan contributed 2 each. Game 2 at Home vs Victor Point Win 54-23 The Lady Cougars got a break with the Victor Point Vikings arriving with only 6 players, mostly younger and B team players. This gave opportunity for Central Howell B players to get more playing time, Jaiden and Lizzy each scored 8 points, Mieli 7 points, Meghan 4 points, all were career highs. Madison had a Season (possibly career) high of 16 points which could have been higher but was instructed to pass off to allow others to score. Additional scoring included Samantha with 6, Hailey 4, Taylor 1. Good job Ladies! ![]() ![]() Game 1 at Home vs Silver Crest Win 31-25 Central Howell girls won a hard fought battle against the Silver Crest Raiders. There was no score for the first 5 minutes until Madison scored the first 2 points. From then on the Lady Cougars would run up a 8-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. The rest of the game would remain about a 10 point margin for the Cougars, give or take 4 points.
