Cougars 2010 Season Record - 6 wins, 4 losses
Game 10, Final game - Dec 16th Away at Bethany - Cougars lose 48 to 58. The Lady Cougars spent their last bit of energy trying to find a way to defeat Bethany Bobcats. It looked hopeful in the first quarter with the Cougars taking a comanding lead. Bethany fought back and would get close or tie the game for the next 2 quarters. Throughout the game there seemed to be foul calls out of nowhere or incorrect calls. Many calls were right but the refs, bless their heart, just were not on top of their game and seemed to have equal erroneous calls for both teams. The 4th quarter just would not go for the Cougars inspite Liz having a career game of 31 points and the Bobcat's star player fouling out. The Cougar team of Grace, Liz, Savannah, Bekah and Kinsey played as a team and encouraged each other as a team to the end. Samantha also played a few minutes and did a good job while in there. They did not give up! Good job girls.
Game 9 - Dec 15th at Home vs Pratum - Cougars win 26 to 25. Cougars hang on to win a thriller against Pratum tonight. The Lady Cougars played with determination in a game that started out to look easy in the 1st quarter. Liz scored 4 points and Grace added a 3 pointer in the 1st quarter to give the Cougars a 7 - 0 advantage. Savannah scored Central Howell's only 4 points in the 2nd Quarter against Pratum's 8 which gave the Cougar's a slim 3 point advantage at the half. The Cougars out scored Pratum in the 3rd 9 - 7 with Bekah and Kensey scoring 2 each and Liz 5 which increased the lead to 5. The 4th quarter got very interesting with Pratum out scoring the Cougars 10 - 6 with Kinsey and Savannah providing all of Central Howell's 6 points for the 4th. With a one point lead and 6 seconds left on the clock, Grace got fouled and was sent to the line for 1-1 single bonus foul shots. The first shot missed which resulted in a live ball, Pratum got the rebound and was able to advance the ball to their end of the court and get a shot off. Fortunately there were a pair of Cougars there to contest the shot as time expired. Wow. And the crowd went wild! Fun game! Good job girls!The 'B Team' featured Samantha and Madison scoring 2 points each which would be all that was needed to win 4 - 2. Good job!
Final Shot vs Pratum
Game 8 - Dec 13th at Home vs Victor Point - Cougars win 47 to 23. The Lady Cougars find the endurance and resolve to beat a much improved Victor Point team. After a low scoring 1st quarter of 6 to 4 the Cougar's advantange would go away in the 2nd. Victor Point out scored the Cougars 10 - 6 to gain a 2 point advantage of their own at the half. Central Howell rallies in the 3rd and out scores VP 17- 4. This momentum would carry over to the 4th quarter with CH scoring 18 to VPs 5. Liz gets her season high with 21 points, Kinsey and Savanna both score 8 each, Grace and Madison both score 4 each and Bekah added 2. Good job girls! Coach is proud of you!
For the 'B Team' the score ended with a 4 - 4 Tie. Cheyenne and Madison both scored 2 each. Wtih Cheyenne scoring that officially gives every player at least one score for the season.
Jamboree - The Cougars entered 2 teams, 'A' and 'B' in the Jamboree. The 'A Team' won 3 and lost 2 in 'pool play' which gave them 2nd place for the pool. The Cougars faced Scotts Mills in the first round of bracket play. It was a close game that ended with a 6 to 8 loss. It seemed fatigue played a role as the Cougars only had 5 players for the day and no subs. It was decided that Bracket play would be single elimination this year so that ended the 'A Team' run. Scoring for the day totaled Liz 29, Kinsey 14, Grace 12, Bekah 10 and Savannah 8. Bekah had high rebound total of 18 followed by LIz 14 and Savannah 7. Grace and Kinsey had 6 rebounds each. Bekah also had high assists with 9. Other highlights included Savannah with a big time box out, Grace with Cougar's only 3 pointer on the day and Liz with 13 steals.
The 'B Team' which is made up of 6th graders only, were up against 7th and 8th grade Teams. Even though they were without a win they showed a lot of heart and made the opposition earn their wins. Samantha and Madison had almost equal stats, 9 points each, 2 assists each 8 steals each and Samantha with just one more rebound (14) than Madison (13). LIzzy scored 5 points and Taylor and Kelsey each added 1. It was fun to watch the great effort by the Cougars when they were often matched up against girls seeminly twice as tall.

Game 7 - Dec 8th Away at Victor Point. Cougars Win 51 - 19. This was a good night for the Cougars. Victor Point played with a lot heart but could not over come the size deficit against the Cougars. With the score 33 to 13 going into the 3rd quarter Victor Point made one more effort to come back. After scoring only 2 points in the quarter Victor Point waived the white flag. The 4th quarter was mostly time for the 'B teams' on both sides to get more playing time. Cougar highlights for the 'B Team' included Kelsey scoring for the first time which completed one of the team goals to have everyone score at least once in the season. Lizzy got her first points the night before and added another score tonight. 'A Team' scoring had Liz equaling her season high of 20, Kinsey with 8, Grace with 7, Bekah and Savannah both had 4 each, Madison, Samantha, Lizzy and Kelsey all had 2 each.
Game 6 - Dec 7th at Home vs Silver Crest. Cougars Win 50 - 29. The Cougars ended their losing streak in dominating fashion. Liz back to her high scoring ways led the way with 18, and Bekah had 'break out' game getting 12 points including three 3 point shots. Kinsey had a good game with 8 points, Savannah had 4, Grace with 3, and Samantha and Madison each added 2.
Game 5 - Dec 2nd Away at Scotts Mills. Cougars Lose 32 - 38. Nothing seemed to go right in the first half for the Cougars getting down by double digits. In the second half the Cougars rallied but it was too little too late. According to the books Kinsey led the Cougars with 12 points! Good job! Liz and Savannah both had 6 each, Taylor had 4 then Grace, Bekah and Samantha each had 2.
Game 4 - Nov 30th Away at Pratum. Cougars Lose 33 - 35. The Cougars appeared to be on their way to an easy win leading 21 to 9 at half time. While the Cougars eased up Pratum managed to put togther a 16 to 8 run in the 3rd Quarter to cut the Cougar lead to 4. The 4th quarter got very interesting at the end with Liz at the foul line to shoot two and the Cougars down by 3. With only 3 seconds on the clock Liz made the first, and missed the second on purpose hoping for a rebound and a quick put back. But it was not meant to be. Again Liz led all Cougars with 12 points, Grace with 9 including a 3 pointer for the game's first basket. Kinsey and Bekah each added 4, Savannah had 3 and Samantha 1.
Game 3 - Nov 22nd at Home vs Bethany. Cougars Lose 41 - 47. This was a close fought battle through most of the game with several lead changes. Bethany lead by 3 at the half, the Cougars cut the Bethany lead to 2 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Cougar's leading scorer Liz fouled out early in the 4th quarter which greatly hurt any come back efforts. Liz ended up with 19 points, Bekah had 12, Kinsey 6, Samantha and Madison added 2 each.
Game 2 - Nov 18th Away at Silver Crest. Cougars Win 31 - 12. Liz led all Scorers with 20, Grace and Savannah each had 4, Bekah and Kinsey each added 2.
Game 1 - Nov 16th at Home vs Scotts Mills. Cougars Win 38 - 29. Always good to get that first win! Good Job!
